How long can you fly?

What is a UAS or Drone

Drone is a nickname given to any aircraft in the category of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), or Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) weighing less than 55 lbs. Almost all models are capable of carrying a payload, usually a camera which captures images and/or video. Many models offer the ability to “live stream” the media from the camera to the operator on the ground in real time. The cost to operate the units is much less than an airplane or helicopter and therefore we can offer images and video at a lower cost. It also saves on resources such as fuel and aircraft maintenance and even reduces emissions since UAS devices run off batteries.

Is it illegal to operate drones commercially?

No. It is only illegal to operate commercially if you do not have the proper licensing. All of our UAS operators are licensed pilots with a Part 107 UAS Airman Certificate. On August 29, 2016, the new FAA regulations (part 107) went into effect. Anyone operating drones commercially is required to have the proper certifications and regulatory requirements in place.

Companies or individuals hiring or using the services of unlicensed sUAS pilots are subject to fines upwards of ten thousand dollars per occurrence from the United States Government.

What are the typical flight gudelines?

GO Aerial Media will follow the guidelines below:

Aircraft are given a thorough pre-flight inspection by the operator before each flight.
Aircraft are under 55lbs take off weight.
Aircraft will always be in Visual line-of-sight (VLOS) of the operator.
In some cases GO Aerial Media may bring a visual observer to assist in maintaining VLOS.
We not use First Person View (FPV) Goggles for piloting, but may offer them to the client
Maximum aircraft airspeed is 30 mph
Generally maximum altitude is 400 feet above take off point.
Minimum weather visibility is 3 miles from control station.
If the shoot is within 5 miles of an airport or any part of Class B, C, D or E airspace will need to secure permission for the flight before starting.
